NUTRIENTS THAT SIMPLY DELIVER

SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN

PLANT PROTEIN VS. ANIMAL PROTEIN — WHAT THE TRIALS FOUND

A 2021 systematic review and meta-analysis in Nutrients pooled 16 randomised controlled trials comparing animal and plant protein. Across those trials, protein source did not affect changes in absolute lean mass or muscle strength. Animal protein did show an advantage for percent lean mass, and in adults under 50 it favoured lean mass gains (weighted mean difference 0.41 kg; 95 % CI 0.08 to 0.74).

So: for strength and for absolute lean mass, the trials found no difference between plant and animal protein. For percent lean mass, and for younger adults, the evidence still leans towards animal protein. That is the honest state of the research — and it is why we offer this alongside our whey isolate rather than claiming one simply replaces the other.*
