Roger Klüh and his speedboat Apache Star were the stars of the Caribbean back in 2015, racing between Florida and Cuba. Klüh set a new record time of 90 minutes, piloting the Apache Star across the water at breakneck speed. Now the Apache Star is heading to Hollywood.
None other than film legend John Travolta is now at the helm. Travolta used the 2,700-horsepower monster boat in the trailer for his new film Speed Kills.
In the film, based on real-life events, Travolta plays multimillionaire Ben Aronow. Aronow works in construction in New Jersey, but always ends up entangled with the Mafia. He sells everything, moves to Miami, and buys a speedboat. He actually becomes a champion, but eventually runs out of money. To stay afloat, he starts working again—for the infamous Mafia boss Meyer Lansky.
The Apache Star appears in the movie’s promotional trailer. The music video by Miss Tara, who composed the film’s theme song, also features Klüh’s boat. The trailer premiered on May 8 at the Cannes Film Festival.
