ROGER KLÜH

Stars of the Week: Unpunished Klüh: Freedom for Apache Star

Roger Anthony Cassius Klüh in an interview about APACHE STAR.

Roger Klüh is out of trouble. His boat Apache Star had broken down on the trip from Miami to Cuba. He couldn't bring it back to the U.S. because that would be a violation of the Cuba embargo, the Americans said. The man from Düsseldorf was threatened with 20 years in prison. Now, however, it remains with a mere warning. The Klüh file has been closed. Phew!

Queen Esther Marrow gives her best once again. Together with her Harlem Gospel Singers, she performs today in the Tonhalle - in two concerts. They are her last. After 25 years, the 75-year-old is now calling it a day. The Düsseldorf audience praises her in the highest terms. They are so enthusiastic, she says. Thanks to the grand dame of gospel.

Winter didn't bring us Düsseldorfers to our knees this week. We showed you, Winter, with the crisp line, "Winter - Chaos stayed away!" You couldn't even impress the Rheinbahn, you rookie, with your two or three snowflakes. Something else has to come along, an avalanche or something, until you stop us. And on March 21, it's goodbye anyway!

Joachim Riese heads the firm "Warth & Klein Grant Thornton". He justifies this unwieldy name with his competitors "PricewaterhouseCoopers" or "Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler" (KPMG), whose names are just as funny. We will soon interview the Düsseldorf law firm with the crisp name "Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek". They know the problem.

Joachim Luger, alias Vater Beimer, was speechless - in real life, children would say. He only acted, because of great hoarseness the voice came from offstage, from a fellow actor. To this we say: It's all theater.

Kerstin Gäthe helps father Beimer in matters without a voice. She says, "It happens again and again." The pressure to perform and function is great for artists, she says. Several times in her 30-year career, she, too, has repressed the pain and performed even though she was sick. Oh, non-actors stay home every time they have an ailment? Or what?
